Inspired by children’s illustration books, especially Antoine de Saint-Exupery’s The Little Prince.
As a child, I read a lot of books, especially falling in love with the ones that were beautifully illustrated. Some of my favorites were: The Little Prince, Where The Wild Things Are, Curious George, Babar, and all of Dr. Seuss’ books. These books created new worlds full of friends who were brave, loyal, kind, good, caring and adventurous. They taught me to have hope in a better tomorrow, especially when my days were full of shadows. In recognition of the beauty and healing properties of children’s book art – which I think are beneficial to adults as well as children – I painted “a boy and his stars” because every child has stars full of hope and dreams that are patiently and lovingly waiting for them.
