Weekly Volunteer Program, Art Exploration In-Depth

Weekly Volunteer Program The Weekly Volunteer Program is designed to nurture the self-esteem of children, allowing them to find their creative voice in weekly sessions that take place over the course of 8-12 consecutive weeks. At the end of the program, children have had the opportunity to foster a relationship with a consistent adult role model and develop a better sense of self through experiencing the creative process.

For about 1.5 hours per week, 10 to 15 kids interact with the same dedicated volunteer week after week. Volunteers lead programs in a variety of art mediums focused on varying themes. With the support of a Free Arts Program Coordinator, volunteers are given the resources and flexibility to create a program plan based on their expertise and the children’s interests. Possible themes include photography, painting and drama.

A typical weekly session begins with a warm-up activity, such as drawing lines to the rhythm of music, followed by projects related to the program’s theme.
